Since first being announced in 2014, Alexa has continuously become more natural, knowledgeable, conversational, context-aware, and capable of self-learning. All this has been achieved through the contributions of Alexa science and engineering teams who continuously push the state of the art in machine learning and other techniques to create magical experiences for customers.
On June 11th, at 10am EST, Prem Natarajan, Alexa AI vice president of natural understanding, joined Jeff Blankenburg on Alexa & Friends to discuss the ways he and his team are working to make Alexa interactions with customers more engaging by improving Alexa’s ability to interact more naturally with customers.
During the interview, Jeff and Prem discussed recent advances in natural understanding , and how those advancements translate into better experiences for customers, developers and third-party device manufacturers. Natarajan also represents Amazon as a member of the board of directors for the Partnership on AI, which supports research and other means for determining best practices in the research, development, testing, and fielding of AI technologies. The organization addresses areas such as AI fairness and inclusivity, transparency, security, and privacy, so Blankenburg touched on those topics with Natarajan as well.
